H7/f7 fit

H7/f7 is a running fit. For a 20 mm diameter the H7 hole goes from 0 to +21 µm and the f7 shaft from -41 to -20 µm: clearance from 20 to 62 µm.

When to use H7/f7

Moderate clearance for shafts running in plain bearings or bushes with lubrication, at normal speeds and loads.

Negative clearance = interference: the shaft is larger than the hole. Values in micrometres (µm, thousandths of a millimetre). Diameter ranges: over the first value, up to and including the second.

Other fits

Values computed from the IT grades and fundamental deviations of ISO 286-1, checked against several published tables. For critical designs the standard itself is what counts.
